Tower Theatre marquee simply removed for repairs, Beeson insists

An astute observer noted that the marquee has been taken down at the historic Tower Theatre (formerly Hollywood Video), which has been vacant since November.

CultureMap put a call into the property owner, Beeson Properties, who told us the sign has simply been removed for repairs. They said they've got some potential tenants looking at the space (the interior was gutted prior to Hollywood Video moving in) but nothing is even close to final.

Hollywood Video was evicted rather suddenly and the theater has been standing empty ever since, making it the second classic theater in Montrose not in use.

The Tower Theatre, built in 1936 and located on the corner of Westheimer and Waugh Drive, was once a venue for live productions. Both it and the Alabama Theater on Shepherd Drive, whose interior has (so far) been preserved, are awaiting tenants.
