It seems like Houstonians really, really love to cycle. In addition to studios such as Define, Ryde, Revolution, CycleBar and a host of other gyms that offer spin classes, celebrity favorite SoulCycle is coming to the Bayou City next month.

The first Texas studio of the New York chain will open in the River Oaks / Upper Kirby area at 2549 Kirby Drive in April, with the exact opening day not announced at this time. It will feature a 56-bike studio, an expansive lifestyle boutique selling SoulCycle's branded clothing line, and swanky locker rooms.

A Dallas studio will open later in the spring in the Preston Hollow neighborhood.

Known for its club-like lighting, pulsing music, and celeb sightings —first lady Michelle Obama, Bradley Cooper, Madonna, and Lady Gaga are all devotees — SoulCycle promises an "emotional journey that runs parallel to the physical workout." Earlier this year, SoulCycle teased Houston with a three-day preview of its intense classes in a collaboration with Target.

Classes typically cost $30 for 45 minutes, but there are longer, more intense classes also available, as well as classes for teens.

SoulCycle currently has 56 locations nationwide, the majority in New York and Los Angeles, with the first international location in London slated to open later this year.
