Star Pizza-Shepherd
|
You know you've found a Houston legend when people consider the delivery area in moving decisions. Star Pizza earns it's stellar rep with addictively delicious deep dish pies. All pizzas are available with a traditional white crust or the slightly-sweet whole wheat crust. Signature combos include Joe's Pizza, with sautéed spinach and fresh garlic; Hank's pizza featuring mushrooms, Italian sausage, and olives; and the chicken alfredo with cream sauce, chicken, gorgonzola, mozzarella, mushrooms, onion, and fresh basil. But you can’t go wrong with any of the pizza choices and possible toppings. Both this Montrose location and the one in the Heights have a casual vibe and polite, tattoo-and-glasses-sporting servers, as well as a somewhat disappointing but cheap buffet lunch on weekdays featuring salad and thin crust pizzas.
The wait for a deep dish is between 20-30 minutes -- unless it's home delivered, in which case it can take an hour or more. So order before you're ravenous.
