L'Olivier
|
L'Olivier is chic and sophisticated and unapologetically French. Housed in what used to be an adult DVD shop in Montrose (the ultimate in gentrification, mais oui!), this open dining room with a modern feel gets plenty of natural light from a large wall of windows during the day, but at night the twee little globe-shaped light fixtures cast fragmented and moody (and sometimes sexy) shadows on the brick walls. The first solo restaurant from former Tony's chef Olivier Ciesielski, expect classic French dishes like bouillabaisse and beef bourguignon alongside things like yuzu ceviche or sauteed shrimp with black risotto. While the pornography has been replaced with poached eggs, the pure, unadulterated pleasure centers of the brain are still the target of the building's newest inhabitant.
Sit at the bar for the oyster specials and a fantastic happy hour (when it applies).
