Inversion Coffeehouse
|
In 2005, two condemned buildings belonging to the Art League of Houston were transformed by local artists Dan Havel and Dean Ruck into a mind-blowing temporary art installation—they literally sucked the exterior skin of the structures inward to look like it was being pulled into a time warp or black hole. Thus the project was titled “Inversion.” Six months later, the houses were demolished and on the hallowed ground of that wildly creative endeavor, Art League Houston built Inversion Coffee House, a minimalist, light-filled building that is both an art gallery and a hip place to sip gourmet coffee. We like the blended chocolate cherry bomb, as well as the fresh baked goods and sandwiches from nearby Krafts'men Bakery. Inversion has even spawned an offshoot inside the downtown Houston Public Library.
As one would expect, the rotating art installations are the best in town. And the free Wi-Fi is great, too.
