Houston Racquet Club
|
The residential area of Memorial is one of the city’s greatest treasures, abounding in dense forests and some actual woodland creatures (like spunky raccoons that come out of hiding and raid the gourmet-filled garbage cans of terribly posh estates). Tucked away on 31 acres of tamed and manicured woods in the heart of Memorial, the Houston Racquet Club has long been a bastion of exercise and relaxation. Despite the name, this is not a swingers-only establishment. You don’t have to play tennis to join this alternative to a country club with its fitness center, resort-style swimming pool, lap pool, jogging trails, racquetball courts and casual and formal dining. But if tennis is your passion, this club takes the sport very seriously with top-flight courts and tournaments.
The Houston Racquet Club is the birthplace of the women's professional tennis tour.
