DARKE | gallery
|
The work of younger, emerging artists with Texas ties covers the walls at DARKE | gallery, where you'll also find stalwart names like Dixie Friend Gay and David Brown. The Frank Zeni-designed cement block building has been a destination art space in Rice Military since it opened in 2006. Opening receptions are held on the second Friday of each month, where visitors can mingle with the artists on exhibit.
Gallery owner Linda Darke has her eye attuned to the city's caché of art students. In the summer of 2010, she featured three University of Houston MFA graduate students, and also spotlights the video, digital media and film work of UH undergraduate seniors.
