The Catastrophic Theatre
This nonprofit theater company does not think just outside of the box—it takes dark and funny to new levels, conceiving and mounting provocative productions. In addition to serious, boundary-breaking work, it features an annual musical from Catastrophic comic genius Tamarie Cooper, who writes, directs, choreographs and stars in a hilarious, relevant and irreverent show each summer about her everyday life. The company does not have a permanent theater space and thus performs at venues around Houston.
Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons got his start at the predecessor of Catastrophic Theatre, which was helmed by the same team, and remains a big financial supporter.
