Brasserie Max & Julie
|
In Paris, arguments erupt between good friends over which fromagerie stocks the finest cheeses, which bistro offers the most delicate fillet of cabillaud, and where to savor the ultimate café au lait. And while the same is true in Houston, with debates raging over the best barbeque, Tex-Mex, seafood, and steak, hands-down the best French brasserie around is Brasserie Max & Julie. Granted, this is practically the only classic French brasserie in Houston, but the seasonal country French dishes, such as savory pot-au-feu, white duck cassoulet and steak au poivre are both satisfying and authentic. Couple the menu with the brasserie’s interior of rich scarlet fabrics and bright gold railings and you’ll almost believe that you are a stroll away from the Bois de Boulogne. You're not, but Hermann Park is just down the road...
