The grilled steaks are good, but Truluck’s likes to tout its fresh Florida stone crab. The restaurant operates a fleet of 16 crabbing boats at the fisheries on the Isle of Capri, offshore of Naples, Florida. Truluck’s sells buckets of the stuff. The same goes for the cioppino. We really haven’t found many Houston restaurants that give cioppino the right kind of treatment. More often than not, a restaurant will skimp on the dish. But Truluck’s doesn’t. This sizable bowl comes brimming with shrimp, fish, clams, mussels and calamari.
Few people think of ordering a burger when eating at a steakhouse. But if you think about it, where else would you get really good beef burgers? When you want to just sit at the bar and watch the crowd, order the kobe burger, wrapped in bacon. It’s a well-formed stack. Truluck’s also keeps its Heinz ketchup in the refrigerator, allowing for the combination of crispy, hot French fries with cool ketchup; just as God intended it.
