La Tapatia Taqueria
This is the place to go for a hangover breakfast—or when craving carbs while still on a bender. Tapatia is a great dive where you won’t see anyone you know and the menu is loaded with delicious Tex-Mex and some traditional Mexican street food. Patrons are mostly Mexican-American families gathered at long tables with a smattering of in-the-know students and Montrose types. The tacos and enchiladas are consistently good but our favorite are the burritos, loaded with refried beans, sour cream, avocado and your choice of meat and smothered (for a couple extra pesos) with creamy queso.
Once a tiny restaurant, it expanded into a nearby florist shop and now takes up much of the strip center it's in. But the next door laundromat remains.
