A modest but charming restaurant on Fairview that chef/owner Kevin Naderi seemed to open almost accidently, Roost is the perfect date spot: casual, cozy and under the radar enough to be hip. The modern American menu is both approachable and elevated, and the wine list is probably the most reasonably priced collection in town. The locally sourced menu changes every month or so, but the roasted cauliflower has become Naderi's signature dish. Though it looks like the a pile of wood shavings, the browned cauliflower perfectly meshes sweet and savory, with a distinct but mild Asian flavor from the miso dressing, bonito flakes, pine nuts and mint. It's nothing short of addictive.
There's only a few tables and Roost doesn't take reservations, so come during off-peak hours or on weeknights if you don't want to wait.
