Mr. Peeples adds to Midtown's thriving nightlife scene with a modern, upscale steakhouse in a building that once housed a chapter of the Boy Scouts of America. Designed by architect Carlos Castroparedes, the restaurant turns standard, staid steakhouse conventions inside out. Instead of tans and grays, there's purple everywhere, including the two-story, 1,600 bottle wine tower. Graffiti art by Houstonian James Perez decorates the hallways and bathrooms and Swarovski crystal chandeliers twinkle amid the plush surroundings.
While the restaurant is know for prime steak, it sets itself apart from other steakhouses with an extensive seafood selection. Sample fresh Gulf fish or splurge on one of three lobster preparations. Save room for dessert, too. The Monday through Thursday happy hour features discounts on food and drinks, and Sunday brunch brings out a party crowd who pack the expansive patio in nice weather.
