Lee's Fried Chicken & Donuts
The latest concept from F.E.E.D. TX (Liberty Kitchen, BRC) jumps on the national trend of offering two favorite treats under one roof: donuts and fried chicken. Lee's donuts are excellent, with a light texture and a not too sweet glaze; if it's available, the blueberry cake donut is must-order.
As for the chicken, the three-day process of brining and soaking in buttermilk results in very juicy meat with a crispy crust, and the pieces are large — that helps when a four piece and two sides costs $15. Seasoning tends towards Southern salt and pepper, which might be a little bland for those used to the Cajun fare from places like Frenchy's.
