Can a dynasty be built on fried chicken? It appears so.We wonder if that’s what Creole fried chicken king Percy Creuzot had in mind when he opened Frenchy’s Chicken in 1969. Decades later, this institution still continues to attract droves of college students from the University of Houston and Texas Southern University.
It doesn’t matter that they have to stand outside in the unbearably hot Houston weather for the faultlessly crunchy, greaseless fried chicken. Side orders like soulful braised greens and red beans and rice with sausage are also worth the wait. Like KFC, Frenchy's fried chicken recipe is a family secret. Come early and come hungry.
