Since we consider alcohol one of the basic food groups, we’d come to here just for the pisco piñas and other innovative cocktails concocted in the upstairs lounge for our daily serving. But once here, the sophisticated Southwestern cuisine draws us to the menu as well. Here, the steak rests on griddled corn and jack cheese cakes with a piquant voodoo cream and the crunchy chicken comes coated in a delicious combination of crushed pecans and pistachios. The place, decked out with an oh-so-chic converted-warehouse look, is usually packed and Sunday brunch in particular almost always means you’ll have to sip one of Benjy’s zesty Bloody Marys while you wait for a table. Ah, the sacrifices one must make!
Mom's Chocolate Cake is made by Benjy's mom, and is hands-down the best chocolate cake around.
