You get a sense of awe driving down Congress Avenue towards the Texas State Capitol building, the sunset red granite covered structure makes every visitor feel that Texan pride. The building was completed in 1888 in a Renaissance Revival style designed by architect Elijah E. Myers and covers 22 acres.

The Capitol building houses the Texas legislature and the office of the governor of Texas. The legislature chambers is the largest room in the Capitol building and holds 150 representatives, you can tour the room and walk the floor to get a feel for what it's like when the chamber is in session.

Walking through the corridors you are greeted by paintings of past governors and photographs of Texas history, they also offer tours throughout the day, so you can get the most out of your experience there.

Tours are available Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm, Saturdays 9:30am - 3:30pm, and Sundays 12pm - 3:30pm. Tours generally run 45 minutes and features the Capitol, Texas history and the Texas legislature.
