As a rule, most convention centers seem the same, but NRG Center has some impressive numbers that sets it apart. Take a deep breath: 706,000 square feet of contiguous, single-level exhibit space that can be divided into 11 different halls, 61 meeting rooms configurable in over 100 combinations, two major conference centers, and 150,000 square feet of registration space. The inner-workings of the center are impressive, too —technological infrastructure capable of providing high speed internet, a pre-wired optic cabling backbone, on-site production facilities, 120 television monitors and Web casting abilities. Each meeting room has its own dedicated sound, lighting and networking capabilities. Plus, there’s the Metro train that conveniently whisks conventioneers to Midtown, the Museum District and downtown where they can sample much of the best Houston has to offer. It recently underwent a name change from Reliant Center to NRG Center.
