Formerly vice president of Sotheby’s and head of its painting division in L.A., Sandy Parkerson has poured his wealth of knowledge and experience into his gallery here which specializes in 19th- and 20th-century American and European art with a primary focus on oils, watercolors and works on paper.  Most of his pieces fall somewhere between the period of 1850–1980, and many were found while trawling Houston estate sales with an eye for the exquisite.  The art at Parkerson Gallery is mainly geometric visions, cityscapes and figures, with the occasional Lichtenstein abstract stirred into the pot.  Also look out for large abstract sculptures, modern still lifes and a mythical reference or two.
