"Big Blue" by Susan Budge

When he was director of the Taos Arts Association, Thom Andriola recruited a stable of artists who were offspring of the second generation of Abstract Expressionists. The foundation of his group began with Tony Magar, Louis Ribak, minimalist Larry Bell and surrealist Lee Mullican.  A little over a decade ago Andriola moved his gallery from New Mexico to its current location on Houston’s Gallery Row.  Since then he has represented dozens of contemporary local and international artists.  Some of our favorites are local sculptress Tara Conley, video artist Michal Rovner, and painter Yigal Ozeri. With New Gallery, Andriola strives to persuade audiences that art is not bound to the guidelines of abstract, figurative, or conceptual ideas but rather comes in many elusive and uncommon forms.
