Step off the train and into the urban realm. Though only seven miles long, METRORail connects the core of Houston culture.
This stop is the gateway to higher education, as the Houston Community College main campus is located in the historic San Jacinto High School buildings. The station is also a one-stop access point for a night on the town, as a strip of quirky restaurants and bars has amassed around the platforms. Tacos A Go-Go dishes Mexico City-style street tacos until the wee hours, and for more upscale Latin-infusion food, step into Julia's Bistro. The post-punk set perfects their stare-downs in the lounge at The Mink, while live music rocks the house at The Continental Club. Just to the south is a cluster of must-see galleries on the ground floor of Isabella Court. Performing arts powerhouse Ensemble Theatre adds a dash of African-American culture to the square.
