Finally, Houston soccer fans can turn off the premium cable and root for the hometown team. The Houston Dynamo were formed in 2005 when the team moved from San Jose, Cal., and settled in to a temporary home at UH's Robertson stadium. In their 2006 inaugural season the Houston Dynamo became the winningest Houston sports team of the decade by capturing the MLS championship. Just for good measure, they repeated the feat in 2007. Led by Brian Ching and Mike Chabala, the Dynamo earned an immediate fan base that placed them among the top in attendance in the league. And that's just the beginning — a new Dynamo Stadium is in the works in emerging EaDo.
Houston's emerging interest in soccer led the MLS to stage the 2010 All-Star game against Manchester United here. The event sold out Reliant Stadium.
