Championship Park

This hidden green spot is one of those places that is a word-of-mouth treasure. Championship Park celebrates nature and is a result of the “Birds and Bats on the Bayou” project created by the University of Houston–Downtown.  Just across the way from the campus and on the north side of the Main Street Bridge, Championship Park provides a serene oasis for migrating bird and bat species. This urban community effort was undertaken and completed entirely by volunteers in 2004 and remains a relaxing, flowery, secluded spot for both people and flying creatures looking for a shady resting place.
