Catastrophic Theatre

Thought-provoking theater

This nonprofit theater company does not think just outside of the box—it takes dark and funny to new levels, conceiving and mounting provocative productions. In addition to serious, boundary-breaking work, it features an annual musical from Catastrophic comic genius Tamarie Cooper, who writes, directs, choreographs and stars in a hilarious, relevant and irreverent show each summer about her everyday life.  The company recently found a permanent theater home in the former DiverseWorks space at 1119 East Freeway.

Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons got his start at the predecessor of Catastrophic Theatre, which was helmed by the same team, and he remains a big financial supporter.
