The Briar Club
Back in the days before alcohol was legal, the Coral Club was an elegant private establishment where members drank liquor by the gallon, dined, danced and gambled the night away. When the need for this kind of sophisticated speakeasy vanished, the organization evolved into a family-oriented private club and in 1949 was reborn as The Briar Club. Today the club features an 18,000-square-foot state-of-the-art fitness center with spa amenities, seven tennis courts, a large heated pool, a six-lane, 25-meter lap pool, a sports pavilion for basketball and volleyball with a staff that includes Olympic athletes, motor skill professionals, and first-class sports trainers. There’s still dancing and fine dining and when members make dinner reservations their favorite cocktails are waiting for them when they arrive. Located on five beautifully landscaped acres right off Westheimer, The Briar Club is close to lots of families who want a little posh thrown in with their playtime.
