Baker Institute for Public Policy
Jimmy Carter, Nelson Mandela, Vladimir Putin, Colin Powell, Madeleine Albright, Alan Greenspan and the Dalai Lama are just a few of the international heavy-hitters who have given lectures and participated in panel discussions at this prestigious think tank. The James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University concentrates on researching and exploring contemporary public policy issues such as energy, health, economics and technology with a mission to bridge the gap between theory and practice. While some of the institute’s lectures and conferences are invitation-only, others are open to the public. They also offer webcasts of some presentations so that you don’t have to be there to get in on the action. This non-profit center is a place where great scholars, politicians, humanitarians, scientists and corporate giants converge to discuss ideas and information in an open, nonpartisan setting.
