State Bar & Lounge
Return to the atmosphere of the glory days of the the early oil boom at this clubby bar located on the second floor of the historic Rice building. It was once the Capitol Club, a playground of the city's wheelers and dealers who hung out often at the Rice Hotel. Even the furnishings—leather furniture and an oversized bar—date back to the golden days, and fill this space with a comforting and prestigious air next to the oversize windows looking out onto downtown. Hearty drinks and good conversation are staples on the weekdays, but watch out for the weekend rush of scenesters trying to get some face time.
Step out onto the patio -- located atop the Rice metal awning -- for a great view of Texas Street and downtown Houston.
