On weekends the line snakes around this Montrose dance mecca. Work up a sweat to dance, hip-hop, top 40 and electronica. This club has serious bragging rights when it comes keeping the dance floor cool. A Full Color Water Cooled Matrix Laser Light Show (the only one in the Southwest) dazzles dancers and keeps the temperature down. The place could use a bit of sprucing up. The dingy bathrooms come to mind as does the small, roped-off smoking area that might inspire you to swear off cigarettes. Still, it's by far the best gay dance club in the city. Arrive before 10 p.m. to skip the cover charge.
Remember when it was called Heaven? A fire extinguished the popular dance spot before Charles Armstrong rebuilt it as South Beach in early '00s. The crowd here is a lot like Meteor and F Bar, but don a lot less clothes at this theme gay bar.
