John Waters could write an entire screenplay just from the campy antics of Karaoke Night held here every Wednesday—we’re going on record saying that this is a must-do Houston experience. This is a democratic gay bar that welcomes and is a blast for anyone who is in the mood for a night of dirty dancing and cocktails mixed by buff bartenders in a martini lounge atmosphere. The Guava Lamp sports a pool table and a MegaMaxx machine, but they seem like tangential distractions when the real entertainment is on the pumping dance floor and in the party-loving crowd. There’s no cover charge and parking is free – but we’d gladly pay up on both counts for an evening of full-throttle fun here.
Looking for a lively scene on Mondays? Here Mondays mean all drinks are half-off.
