Voices Breaking Boundaries "Women Under Siege, Part 1"

VBB Women Under Seige April 12
Courtesy of Voices Breaking Boundaries

A new production from Voices Breaking Boundaries, "Women Under Siege" explores women's rights, education and "security" issues in Houston and Karachi. Inspired by metal detectors at two unlikely spaces — Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Houston and a Sufi shrine in Karachi — the two-part event juxtaposes freedoms that are taken for granted in Houston against those that have existed traditionally in Sindh, Pakistan.

Artists from Houston and Karachi will transform an East Side home through installations, visual art and performances in response to human rights issues found in both Texas and Pakistan. Part two of the production takes place May 12 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
