The Gourds project the alternative/indie roots and sensibilities of their hometown, Austin, Texas. The group's junkyard sound crisscrosses the roots-music spectrum with a whacked-out, independent spirit.
Mary McBride, the Washington-bred acclaimed country-folk singer and songwriter has been described by the New York Times as "part angel and part truck driver, as if to say sometimes you power through sadness and sometimes you hope for a miracle."
