UH School of Art Menil/Fiesta opening reception
The "Menil/Fiesta" project has become a rite of passage for University of Houston painting majors. Students in their junior year are asked to visit both the Menil Collection and a Fiesta grocery store to gathering images and ideas that become the basis of an original series of paintings.
To celebrate the project's tenth year, the UH School of Art has partnered with Fiesta to display the paintings at the megamarket across from Reliant Park.
The exhibition, which includes 21 past and recent works, opens with a proper artist's reception on Thursday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the frozen food section.
