Cthulhu: A Puppet Play is based on the cosmology created by master of horror H.P. Lovecraft, author of seminal classics The Call of Cthulhu, The Dunwich Horror and The Dreams in the Witch House. Borrowing from Lovecraft's themes and characters, Cthulhu: A Puppet Play uses puppets, film and an original score to capture the feeling of impending doom intrinsic to Lovecraft's works and place it in a modern setting.
The work was conceived and written by Mike and Kelly Switzer of the Ornery Theatre. Ornery Theatre was founded by Mike Switzer and is committed to producing work, both new and classic, that would not otherwise be seen on Houston stages.
This production has attracted a wide swath of local talent including Stephanie Saint Sanchez, George Heathco, Matthew Carter, Paul Locklear, Kira Vincent, Chris Kemmerer, London Alexander, Luke Hubley, Shanon Adams, Ashley Horn and Daniel Adame.
The production is not suitable for children under 13.
