In conjunction with Serbian printmaker Slobodan Radojković' solo exhibition, artist Arthur Amiotte will give a scholarly lecture about Native American sacred rituals, including the use of tobacco pipe.
Amiotte is an artist, former professor and author. Currently living in Custer, S.D., he is a member of the Oglala Lakota (Sioux) tribe from the Pine Ridge Reservation. The lecture will be followed by a reception and preview of another separate exhibition on the second level of Bayou Building Atrium I. The second exhibition will feature works from the Children's Art School at Kherson Educational-Artistic Complex in Kherson, Ukraine, and UH-Clear Lake's Art School for Children and Young Adults, on display through Nov. 8.
