Kate Sayen Kirkland, author of Captain James A. Baker of Houston, 1857–1941, researched the archival records of Baker, his family and the law firm now known as Baker Botts L.L.P. to carefully mine the archives of Captain Baker's contemporaries for her book. Kirkland will discuss the history of Houston and the story of an influential man who labored all his life to make Houston a world-class city.
