At the Houston Young Professionals Society's Power Networking Mixer & Summer Soiree, guests will enjoy an exclusive preview of the works of contemporary artist Jane Alexander, a South African creative who shot to international fame in the mid-1980s with Butcher Boys, a provocative installation exploring issues relating to apartheid through a trio of mouthless, muscular animal-human hybrid sculptures.
Jane Alexander: Surveys, on view at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston from Aug. 11 through Nov. 4, is the artist’s first solo show in North America and features site-specific tableaux, sculptures and photomontages.
