Houston Restaurant Week, established in 2003 by Cleverley Stone, showcases Houston's incredible array of fine restaurants while raising money for the Houston Food Bank.
Last year, the event was extended and renamed. Now called Houston Restaurant Weeks, it begins on August 1 and extends through August 31. In 2011, 142 restaurants in Greater Houston teamed up to help fight hunger and raised $800,000 with 160,000 diners served.
During the fundraising drive, foodies throughout Houston get the opportunity to enjoy special chef-created three-course dinner menus for $35 per person or two-course lunch menus for $20 per person (excluding beverages, tax and gratuity).
All participating restaurants donate $5 from each dinner menu or $3 from each lunch menu sold to the Houston Food Bank. This is a great opportunity for diners to experience new restaurants or revisit old favorites while helping to fight hunger in Houston.

Patrons can also place a one-time $10 donation to the Houston Food Bank by texting HRW to 20222.
