Houston Maritime Museum presents History Lecture Series: Voyage to Antarctica

The Houston Maritime Museum will host Voyage to Antarctica: Ernest Shackleton, Explorer Extraordinaire, presented by Ruth Fowler.

The lecture will feature the story of Shackleton’s attempt to be the first to cross Antarctica. He and his crew left in 1914 and would not return until two years later, having never set foot on the continent. What the crew achieved during the voyage is an extraordinary tale of survival and endurance.The talk will include descriptions of the enormous travails and obstacles faced during the expedition. Explore the fascinating story of what happened after they reached the Antarctic Circle made Shackleton, his crew, and the Endurance, legends in maritime exploration.
