The Heights Theater presents Local Songwriter Showcase: Matt Harlan, Sergio Trevino, Nathan Quick, and Sara Van Buskirk

Matt Harlan is a troubadour of the first degree, bringing his handcrafted songs to stages across his home state of Texas, the USA and Europe.  Harlan is a winner of multiple songwriting accolades, from outfits like American Songwriter, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Billboard. He was named Singer-Songwriter of the Year in the 2013 Texas Music Awards and was featured alongside a stellar cast of characters (Lyle Lovett, Guy Clark) in the documentary, “For the Sake of the Song.”

Sergio Trevino of Buxton, Ancient Cat Society, Guess Genes brings heartfelt sentimental imagery to an undefinable style, ranging from whispering folk to pounding electric synths.

Houston native Nathan Quick belts out his bluesy, raspy growl atop lush boogie/roadhouse guitar rhythms and soaring lead guitar. His sound draws from a vast pool of genres including classic rock and roll, blues and contemporary Americana. He is a multi-Houston Press Music Awards winning singer/songwriter.

Sara Van Buskirk is a folk singer-songwriter and guitarist, very involved in the Houston entertainment industry. She is accompanied by Val Young on cello.
