The Da Camera at The Menil series continues with the opportunity to experience one of the world's great pianists in a program of diverse pieces that speak to one another across time and style. The renowned Russian pianist Alexei Lubimov, known for his poetic programs combining standard repertoire and contemporary works from Russia, makes his Da Camera debut.
His program consists of Liszt's Sleepless. Question and answer (Schlaflos. Frage und Antwort); Chopin's Prelude Op. 45 in C-sharp Minor; Arvo Pärt's Partita Op. 2; Liszt's Nuages gris (Grey Clouds); Galina Ustvolskaya's Sonata No. 6; Mozart's Adagio in C Major for glass harmonica, KV 617a; Mahler's Trauermarsch from Symphony No. 5; Liszt's Sursum corda from the Annees de pelerinage III; and Debussy's 12 Preludes Book II.
Lubimov' performance of Debussy's Preludes coincides with his CD release of the complete Preludes on the ECM label.
