William Galston scholar, public intellectual, writer for The New Republic and former policy advisor to president Clinton leads this lecture. In this era of divisive and shallow political disagreement, it is easy for American citizens to become cynical about democratic deliberation or be swayed by one extreme position or by their emotions.

The Conservatism and Progressivism in America lecture series invites scholars and public intellectuals of the left and right to speak about the principles, history and future of Conservatism and Progressivism.
