The American Festival for the Arts was founded in 1993 by Houston composer and arts advocate J. Todd Frazier to provide accessible, high-quality music education and performance opportunities for youth. AFA has been training young musicians from across Southeast Texas since then through challenging musical experiences with a broad, in-depth curriculum.
Each year, the AFA Summer Music Conservatory serves more than 300 instrumentalists, vocalists, pianists and composers from more than 100 area schools. On July 16, students from the piano and chamber music department will perform. On July 20, the full Conservatory Orchestra steps on stage.
The performance will take place in the Crain Garden inside the Dunn Building.
