Art opening reception: Ceramic Art by Susan Budge and jewelry by Raphaele
Raphaele is the creator of talismanic jewelry composed of elements culled from her global travels. Born in Rouen, France, and educated in Paris, the artist gathers inspiring pieces on her treks to the Himalayas, the Sahara, or near her home in the Montrose area of Houston. A world traveler, Raphaele cherishes objects long discarded by others and places them in her magnificent creations, which transmute the passage of time and the inevitable process of loss or erosion into some thing universal and mythic.
Susan Budge's interest in mythology, illusions and psychology all inspire her ceramic work. Budge prefers to work in a spontaneous manner to capture information from her subconscious, focusing on the sensual and mysterious, celebrating the unknown, cherishing the moment and anticipating life's surprises.
On view through Dec. 22.
