Arboretum at Night: Family and Adult Owl Prowl

Build a Nest Box for the Eastern Screech Owl
Courtesy of Houston Arboretum

Visiting the Arboretum at night is a special experience. Join inside the classroom for an up-close experience with live owls, followed by a hike on the trails through the moonlit forest in search of local species.

Kevin Gaines of Wildlife Revealed will share his knowledge of owls and display three different species: Eastern Screech Owl, Barred Owl and Great Horned Owl. In groups of 20, guests will venture out into the darkness with recorded calls to elicit responses from these nocturnal hunters of the Arboretum's forest.

The family prowl will be held from 5-7 p.m., followed by the adults-only prowl from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
