In conjunction with the exhibition American Made: 250 Years of American Art at the MFAH, MFAH Films hosts free screenings of Robert Frank and Alfred Leslie's Pull My Daisy and Frank's This Song for Jack.
Pull My Daisy, with narration by Jack Kerouac, has a cast that features Beat poet Allen Ginsburg along with Peter Orlovsky and Gregory Corso. Pull My Daisy was named to the Library of Congress National Film Registry in 1996.
Robert Frank brought his camera to On The Road: The Jack Kerouac Conference at the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colo. in July 1982. His behind-the-scenes perspective captured reminiscences of legendary figures including Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, William S. Burroughs, Abbie Hoffman, Ken Kesey and Edie Parker, Kerouac's first wife. This Song for Jack was recently restored to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the conference the film documents.
