Rubbish to Runway, a fundraising event that supports nonprofit Long Way Home, will host its first fashion show in Houston. The event will showcase unique runway fashions made from
recycled, re-purposed and revamped materials. This will be an annual event and all proceeds from the show are donated to support the mission of Long Way Home and honor Houston native Vanessa Morales, whose life was cut short in a tragic car accident days before her 25th birthday.

Before Morales’ untimely passing, she asked friends and family to help with her Birthday for a Cause Campaign. Instead of receiving birthday gifts, Morales wanted to raise $500 to support Long Way Home, a nonprofit that promotes education, employment and environmental stewardship in Guatemala. After her passing, her friends and family donated over $17,000 to her Birthday for a Cause Campaign. The outpouring of support allowed Long Way Home to build an additional classroom in honor of Morales and her dedication to giving back.
