With the adult race sold out, kids — and now dogs — still have a chance to participate. This is the first year for a "Doggie Duathlon" to be added to the Bridgeland Triathlon events, which will pit dogs and their owners against other canine lovers in a 200-meter swim and a one-mile run.
Dogs will be classified by weight, with Frisbees awarded to winners in each category. Pets must be up-to-date on shots. Dogs also must be older than four months to compete. Registration through July 28 is $40, increasing to $50 thereafter. Race-day registration will be accepted. For online registration and other event details, click here.
Registration also is continuing for the Bridgeland Kids Triathlon, with kids as young as six years old competing in a 100-meter pool swim, a two-mile bike ride and a three-quarters of a mile run Aug. 4 after the Doggie Duathlon. The young participants will be split into categories: Ages 6 and 7, 8 and 9, 10 and 11 and ages 12 and up. The registration cost through July 28 is $55, increasing to $60 through Aug. 3 and on race day. Register online.
