Join Houstonians for an evening of community celebration! On Friday, April 26, Discovery Green, Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research and Houston Public Media will present “The Changing Faces of Houston.” The program will feature Dr. Stephen Klineberg presenting results from the 2013 Houston Area Survey. The event is free and open to the public.

Come early for entertainment beginning at 6:30 pm:

  • Make your flag! Local artist Rebecca Bass will lead a hands-on workshop to create individualized flags that will be strung around the park throughout the evening.
  • Meet and greet community partners including Literacy Advance of Houston and Ensemble Theater.
  • Enjoy special performances by The Tontons, Endurance-Gospel, Mariachi Hermosura, Anjali School of Dance and Kipp Generations Choir.

Featured presentation begins at 7:30 pm:

  • Houston Public Media’s Ernie Manouse and KPRC Local 2’s Khambrel Marshall will emcee the evening’s program.
  • Testimonies will be given from iconic Houstonians including Mayor Parker, Hugo Ortega, Jacqueline Martin, Mike Feinberg, Gordon Quan and Archbishop Joseph Fiorenza.
  • Dr. Stephen Klineberg will present results of the 31st annual Kinder Houston Area Survey.
  • Interactive Q&A session with the audience.

Attendees can tweet questions to Klineberg and share their experience on Instagram using #DGHouston and #DiscoveryGreen
